Recap of this past weekend:

I traveled (via train, very exciting) to Liverpool, famous for the Beatles and my dear friend Anna. First night she had a bunch of her mates come over and we proceeded to go to a couple of pubs around Liverpool. The first one we tried wouldn’t let us in (you can guess why) the second one we went to was fun, so much fun that I, once again, was found talking to the bouncers. I don’t know what my deal is with the bar workers, I just find them interesting (I now have friends from Nigeria). We then went back to the pub that looked like a cave and apparently there were some sort of soap opera stars there, but me being illiterate in all things soap, I just decided to keep drinking my g&t and continue on my merry way. The next day (around 2 when we finally woke) we went shopping around the city centre, which was glorious! That night we decided to just watch the tube, deciding that we both were still recovering from the night before, also I haven’t seen American T.V. in so long, I just couldn’t resist!

Continuing on, the next day we went to Albert Docks, which was a major port before WWII bombings. The dock area is now filled with candy shops, The Tate Liverpool, and The Beatles Museum. This was a very productive tourist day, Anna was a wonderful guide. On my final night in Liverpool Anna and I decided to go to a bar called “Hannah’s” (I’m not making this up) and let me tell you, it was one classy joint. Anna swears she saw someone from camp there, but I think she was just halucinating. After that we went and met up with some of her friends and some sailors. One of the bars we went to was called flamers and it glorious! It was a retro style club where you could buy afro wigs, guitars, Elvis sunglasses, and a bunch of other useless crap. The bar was full of 50 year olds trying to re-live the good old days, and lemme tell ya, they definitely were. I am pretty sure at least half of the bar was on something other than alcohol.

All in all it was one of the best weekends I’ve had in England!

This coming week I will be working on a paper and presentation for Faulkner, “As I Lay Dying”, if anyone knows anything on the author/book, write me an e-mail, it would be much appreciated. I hope everything is going well back in the states, and you all are staying out of harms way! And as a side note, to anyone whose 21 b-day I have missed: HAPPY B-DAY!!!! I’m sorry I couldn’t be there! (Holls this goes for you today my dear!)
